They don't tell you that the fans inside of air purifiers lack the "air moving" capability to clear the air of dust! Simple as that. I challenge anyone who has purchased a $1000 air purifier to prove this simple point to themselves with a simple test. Get out a flashlight. (or your cell phone flashlight) Turn off the lights - pitch dark. Turn it on and place it inches from your hand within 2-3 feet of your $1000 air purifier. What do you see? DUST! Lots of dust. Why? Every time you walk around or sit down, you stir up literally millions of particles of dust, mites, dead skin, and dust mite feces, among other things! The 100-200 CFM fan in your fancy smancey air purifier can't do jack diddly #!%@ about that dust! They are a complete waste of money.
The only thing the better air purifiers are good for are the bedroom and only while you lay perfectly still and sleep. If you don't toss and turn (each time it projects millions of dust particles into the air) and if the fan is strong enough (good luck sleeping with a strong fan however) then it might be of some use. I've blogged on what you can and should do to address dust issues in your home, and why an ozone shock treatment is the ONLY solution to polluted indoor air, but the search engines don't seem to like the information I provide, so most people will not get this information and will get suckered into wasting money on an air purifier instead of the low cost effective solutions I propose. Oh well, I guess the Intl Corps need to keep their shareholders rich, and the powers that be need to keep the general public sick so that their pharma stocks do well as we thin the herd. I guess that's just the way it is. (but at least I try!)
